Data Sources

  • Official congressional financial disclosures (FDIC, Senate/House Clerk)
  • OpenSecrets.org lobbying and campaign finance data
  • SEC Form 4 filings for member and family trades
  • Congressional Research Service reports
  • Academic studies (peer-reviewed where possible)

Performance Calculations

We use a conservative methodology: comparing member/family portfolios against the S&P 500 total return, adjusted for timing of disclosures (which can lag 30-45 days). We do not claim insider trading — only statistically anomalous outperformance.

Non-Partisan Standard

We apply identical scrutiny to members of both parties. Reform proposals from either side receive equal coverage. Our editorial board includes former non-partisan congressional staff and journalists.
